Spotlight on Seattle: Meet the Artists of Our July 9th Artwalk Thursday

Whether you are an avid collector, a fellow creator, or simply looking for an inspiring evening out, this week's lineup has something for everyone. Meet the local talents who will be showcasing their work:

Beverley K. "Bev" Hill

Medium: Graphic Prints & Digital Collage

About the Artist:

A familiar face in the West Seattle art community, Beverly Hill is not only an artist but also a dedicated volunteer and the Website Post Manager for the West Seattle Art Walk! Trained as an industrial designer with a 30-year career as an architectural lighting designer, Beverly brings a meticulous structural eye to her creative practice.

Operating out of her West Seattle home studio, Stixel Studios (a playful mash-up of pixels and stitches), her graphic prints utilize textures, lines, and bold colors to tell regional stories. Her pieces explore Seattle's maritime and industrial waterfronts, often incorporating striking local landmarks like the shipping container cranes and Elliott Bay barges.

Rachael Ann Engell

Medium: Painting and Mixed Media

About the Artist:

For Rachael, creativity has been a lifetime companion. After earning a degree in Business Marketing from the University of Washington, she spent years working in the corporate world for notable companies like Nordstrom and Microsoft. However, after the birth of her son, she experienced a profound shift.

Stepping away from the corporate landscape, painting became Rachael’s essential outlet for personal expression and alignment. Deeply inspired by the ever-changing beauty of nature, animals, and natural energy, her work is designed to bring a sense of wonder and connection to those who view it.

Meet Our New Artist: Carolyn Autenrieth

Medium: Acrylic Painting & Ceramics

About the Artist:

Carolyn is an accomplished painter, ceramicist, and retired arts educator who taught in public schools for two decades. Her work focuses closely on processes in the natural world, transforming ordinary elements into moments of quiet reflection.

Her featured work, The Lincoln Park Series, stems from a decades-long personal practice of photographing the same locations at Lincoln Park in West Seattle over time, discovering how a single landscape changes its story through shifting light, seasons, and time. Carolyn's canvases explore the upright columns and splayed canopies of trees as quiet seers, drawing conceptual parallels between the permanence of nature and the fleeting nuances of human relationships.
