November Art Walk at CAPERS Home

New Featured Artist:

Medium: Abstract Acrylic & Mixed Media Painting

About the Artist & Her Work:

Debbi Murray is a Seattle-based painter whose obsession with bright color was born out of the isolation and turbulence of coping with mental illness. Working with a riotous neon palette and a theme of "controlled chaos," she paints what she needs to navigate the darkness—carving out a vital corner of control within life's unpredictability.

Through textured layers of acrylic, collage, and intuitive mark-making, Debbi’s canvases explore the tension where vibrant delight dances with inner shadows. Her expressive work creates a space to hold life's unresolved contradictions: beauty alongside dread, and joy alongside grief.

Staying for November:

Medium: Landscape Painting

We are glad to have Jimmy Ulvenes remaining with us through November!

A long-time Olympia painter and former public school art educator, Jimmy’s paintings capture the rich, moody atmosphere of the Pacific Northwest. Described by viewers as visual "soundscapes," his canvases depict mist-laden forests, wet earth, and rain-washed skies that feel intimately familiar to anyone who loves the damp, resilient beauty of our local wilderness.
