New Featured Artist

Rebecca Woodhouse began her collage journey during the COVID-19 lockdown, a period when accessing her art studio was impossible, and painting large-scale works at home was no longer viable. Out of the constraints of the pandemic, a new creative path emerged. Rebecca began cutting apart her pre-pandemic linoprints, irreversibly recombining them into structured new compositions that retained the colors and textures of the past while weaving them into new harmonies.

Since then, Rebecca's collage work has evolved to incorporate an unexpected and meaningful medium: vintage neckties. Using a vast collection of ties left behind by a friend's father—a WWII survivor who scoured thrift shops for decades—Rebecca utilizes varying widths, colors, and patterns to weave stories of loss, shared pasts, and generational bonds.

Her collage work runs alongside her heavily textured paintings, which combine dozens of layers of linocut work with painted lines. Through these hybrid series, Rebecca explores the concept of gender in art. By questioning which materials are traditionally viewed as feminine or masculine, her work carries a definitive feminist bent while remaining deeply rooted in a shared, pro-human touch.

Rachael’s vibrant paintings, inspired by the beauty and energy of animals, nature, and the Pacific Northwest, bring a joyful and expressive atmosphere to our walls.
