New Featured Artist

Irene Wood is an American-born, half-Chinese multimedia artist based in Seattle, Washington. Her work explores the ways memory, identity, and cultural inheritance become embedded in place. Whether painting vast abstracted landscapes or intimate kitchen tables, Wood is interested in how space carries the traces of lived experience.

Inspired by Joy Harjo’s poem Perhaps the World Ends Here, this series is a meditation on the quiet omnipresence of the kitchen table. In Harjo’s words, the table is where “we laugh, cry, argue, pray, give birth, bury our dead.” It feels ordinary here, yet somehow simultaneously grand. This series reimagines the table as sacred ground, a space of inheritance, ritual, and everyday tenderness. The objects on the table hold the echoes of family, friends, culture, migration, belonging and identity. This is a place where personal and collective histories imprint themselves onto space.

Staying for September: Rebecca Woodhouse & Carolyn Autenrieth

We are delighted that Rebecca Woodhouse & Carolyn Autenrieth are staying with us for another month, giving visitors another opportunity to experience her intricate, storytelling artwork.

Rebecca's captivating collage work utilizes vintage neckties spanning decades of fashion, sourced from the extensive collection of a friend’s father who was a WWII survivor. Through these varied patterns and textures, she weaves complex stories of loss, shared pasts, and generational bonds. Alongside her necktie collages, Rebecca’s multi-layered paintings and linocut hybrids invite viewers to reflect on gender roles, materials, and contemporary balance. 

Carolyn’s Lincoln Park Series continues to offer a reflective, natural-world study of West Seattle’s local landscape, capturing the changing stories of trees and light over time.
