Meet the Artist - Vanessa Lanza

Vanessa Lanza is a Pacific Northwest native, and has a deep, spiritual connection to the world around her. Nature’s ubiquitous life-giving presence helps center and ground her. Nature carries stories, memories and wisdom beyond human comprehension and her artwork is an expression of her love-of-home and her absolute admiration of the natural  world that surround us. 

These pieces are from Vanessa’s Ocean Cyanotype series.  Cyanotype prints are made by dipping 100% rag paper that has been treated with non toxic photosensitive chemicals into the PNW ocean and exposing the paper to sunlight.  The papers are rinsed and continued to be worked until the desired effect is achieved.  Sand, salt, and other found objects are used to manipulate the tone and composition of each piece.
