As you prep for all those special gatherings this holiday season, CAPERS can help stock the bar with unique items including mahogany corkscrews, wooden muddlers accompanied by a tasty Mojito recipe, classic brass and nickel flasks with moon phases etchings, or hand pounded nickel, brass or bronze trays, and Ancient Olive Dirty Martini Juice.
Or check out our Whiskey Stones, which chill beverages without diluting them – a great alternative to ice cubes. For beer lovers, we also stock tall pilsner glasses, hand towels, and Graf Lantz – Bierfilzl felt coasters. Impress guests with stunning hand-blown water glasses from Italy or beautiful brandy snifters.
From local West Seattle artist Nicole Pepper, we also carry one-of-a-kind, beautiful French blue and cream ceramic wine flasks.
Need a “how to?” Look no further than our sage list of authors espousing guidance on making Zen gin and tonics, arranging your bar cart, setting a table, imbibing like the French, and crafting cocktails like 007.
Perfect for cheese and crackers or other hors d’oeuvres, our marble, brass and teak wood platters are beautiful and practical. Pair them with alabaster or olive wood spreaders under $15 each – great for pâtés, dips or soft cheeses.
And we offer linen cocktail napkins – fantastic for the environment – or single use Cheers and New Year’s imprinted napkins.
Whether planning a birthday, holiday or New Year’s get-togethers, stop by and let CAPERS help you find just what you’re looking for.

Toward the back right of our shop, tiny voices emitting roars and exclaims of joy can be heard as our smallest patrons discover, learn and play in our kids’ corner. They don’t need the magic of Christmas to venture into the world of imagination where dinosaurs roam free, sharks walk on land, and their newest best friends are an adorable penguin and octopus. CAPERS carries a variety of toys to spark the power of invention in tykes big and small. From RAWR hand puppets to Shapescapes sculptural building pieces to Pebble’s cuddly penguins, or our vibrant fish balls, children will spend hours creating a land of make believe at home.
For budding readers, story time ignites wonder with books such as You Are My Baby Pets by Lorena Siminovich, Octopus Oyster Hermit Crab Snail by Sara Anderson, A Boy and A Bear in A Boat by Dave Shelton, The Wish Tree with words by Kyo Maclear and illustrations by Chris Turnham, or MasterChef Junior Cookbook Bold Recipes and Essential Techniques to Inspire Young Cooks.
If you’re looking for something eco-minded, drink responsibly with Two’s Company’s Peppermint Twist set of 20 paper straws. The classic candy cane stripes entice kids to sip in a winter wonderland and parents can rest easy that these biodegradable straws won’t break down while in use.
Soft felt ornaments abound this year with bespectacled owls, ballerina mice, winged unicorns, orange-hued foxes, skiing bears, chubby tabby cats and more – perfect for stocking stuffers or collectors.
Swaddle infants in our Heart’s Delight terry cloth towels with fox, bunny and bear faces and ears. We also stock plush fleece blankets, cozy sweaters, colorful outfits and West Seattle onesies and tees in multiple sizes.
Or bring a child’s room décor to life, by adorning the walls with Stacey Sterling’s vivid and friendly wild animals such as giraffes, zebras and hippos painted in acrylic on canvas.
And if you haven’t shared that wish list with Santa yet, stop by each Saturday and Sunday, 9am to Noon through Dec 23 to snap a selfie with your mobile phone and introduce your kids to the true meaning of Christmas – giving back – with a suggested donation of just $15 to benefit the West Seattle Food Bank. Or choose a star from our Hickman House Giving Tree and return an unwrapped gift beneath the tree by Dec 21 to help other children and their families in need.
From brilliant art to inspirational toys to the spirit of giving, CAPERS is sure to have something for all those tots in your life this season.

Our Shupaca throws woven with all natural alpaca products are 100% hypo-allergenic and eco-friendly. Warmer, stronger and lighter, these incredibly soft blankets are perfect for cozying up by a fire.
Specializing in accessories handmade with alpaca and Andean sheep wool, Emilime collaborates with an expanding network of Peruvian craftsman and celebrates the creativity of each knitter. Their on-trend fingerless gloves, ponchos, neck warmers and scarves are not only plush, but practical.
Our monogram jewelry is perennially popular. The recycled gold discs in multiple sizes are the perfect elements to design your own necklace. Whether a single initial or a group signifying children or other loved ones each necklace is very personal. The manufacturer donates a plate of food for each piece sold. We love when looking good always means doing good.
The rattles and small stuffed-animals and sea creatures in the shop are fair-trade project from Bangladesh. Each of the crocheted pieces are magical and ever more so when knowing they are benefiting a work group supporting women. The penguin is our signature piece for holiday but the octopus, owl and rainbow bunny are favorites year-round.
We are always on the search for fairly-traded product. Ask us when you’re in the shop and we’ll give you a tour of newest additions to our collection of fair-trade or locally made products with purpose.
